If you’ve read some of my most recent posts, you’ll be aware that I often work closely with stylists and set builders to create fantastic shots for amazing clients worldwide. Sometimes, both of these roles are fulfilled by the client, themselves, which means collaborating with in-house art directors and designers. Experienced production crews are invaluable to a successful shoot and I had the pleasure of working with a great team when shooting the Spring/Summer campaign for global cosmetics manufacturer PZ Cussons’ beauty brand, Sanctuary.
The creative product photography was used across traditional print as well as digital platforms, including large scaled in-store posters and point of sale marketing displays and required extreme high resolution capture and precision post-production - something Howlett Photography has a lot of experience in.
There were several stories to tell here: vibrant spring days bursting with flowers, childhood memories full of delicious sweets, hot sunny days on the beach… all you need is the right style, lighting and props to capture the essence of Sanctuary’s campaign. Sometimes, just one or two elements are all you need -that enticing, refreshing looking image above was created by simply submerging large pieces of watermelon in transparent jelly balls!
We worked closely with the client on this one. Each still life composition was carefully planned, organised and catered for. We knew what we wanted to achieve, and the clients even added their own touch with the supply of artistically selected flowers, crisp fine sand, luxurious textiles and a surplus of sour sweets!
These two creative lifestyle shots scream, Summer Holiday and feature a travel sized beach beauty kit you might take with you on holiday. Sand is a great texture and can be easily manipulated, giving you several different backgrounds whilst using the same props, products and even camera position.
Howlett Photography work with a number of global beauty brands, but we also work directly with small startups and newly established companies, tailoring production to suit you, the client.
