christmas drinks and beverage product photography

This time of year is full of festive themed adverts and classic christmas cheer, this latest blog features premium drinks photography and videography, shot a few months ago with the christmas build up in mind and features cocktails, christmas beverages surrounded by christmas lifestyle themed props. I personally look forward to the christmas period and think of it as an exciting time of year especially after last years reistictions. Typically i will start christmas themed photoshoots months in advance ready for the most important sales period for my clients..

The success of a themed shoot is to not over do the obvious cliches and instead add class and sophistication to a shoot, subtle propping with well chosen props is very important in achieving this. For this drinks and beverage shoot we had an amazing location in white city which gave us lots of potential locations, surfaces and backgrounds to use. When a great location is matched with well considered props and great lighting you have all the right ingredients for an amazing shoot

The breif was to create both moving imagery and still life photography so a combined approach was necessary to get a selection of visually appealing short video clips along with awesome still life drinks product photography. Each image or video had to have a christmas feel but also a nod to the origins of the product, in this case from Guatemala in Central America. I think the clip below has that feel with subtle elements including the palm leaf in the left of shot and the warm lighting and twinkle fairy lights.

Variety was important to the client and we had 2 days to create a mixture of different content with various product ranges and variation of looks and styles. Help from assistants and stylists became vital in maintaining the high quality and good working pace moving from one setup to the next. I really enjoy shooting on location and this year i have had the privilege of shooting some amazing products in some great locations within london and the UK. When photographing on location there are always a few more variables to consider which can make it challenging but with years of experience lots of equipments and a fantastic team there are always solutions to allow is to overcome almost every difficulty.
